Comparing your partner to an airplane in your wedding speech may not seem the
most romantic of moves.

But to Bec, who works in aviation, it made perfect sense.

When "you're overseas, tired and stressed and then you step aboard a Qantas
aircraft, you're immediately calm, relaxed and feel that you are at home," she said.
"That is what it is like seeing [Sanjiv] every day....I'm calm, relaxed and know that I
am at home."

Home and away has featured heavily in Sanjiv and Bec's relationship.

They met at his housewarming in 2007 where they discovered they had studied in
the same town in Holland. They are both keen on travel and while Sanjiv's calm
disposition soothes Bec, providing her soul with a place to rest, her exuberance
brings out his more adventurous, explorative side.

The proposal

In Fiji for a holiday, they arrived late at night. On the way to the hotel, a couple of
hours away, their driver kept himself entertained by joking that he was taking them
into the middle of the jungle to rob them.

Bec was amused, but unbeknownst to her Sanjiv had an engagement ring in his
bag. Stressed enough as it was at his impending proposal, he was not amused.

"Needless to say we got there safely, but Sanjiv aged about 20 years," Bec recalls.

After relaxing into the holiday, he pulled off an impressive, well-thought out
proposal.

He had made a photo album of the few years they had been together. It included
"photos of the night we first met, dates we had been on, holidays, important times
together," Bec explains. "We got half way through the album and there were no
more pics ... he said he only wanted to fill them with pictures of the two of us and
then he got down on one knee and proposed."

The wedding

In Hindu weddings the groom's entrance is intended to pack a punch. Sanjiv did not
disappoint.

He arrived with his family on a yacht surrounded by dancing Dhol players (Indian
drummers).

The dancing theme continued throughout the night. Bec and Sanjiv's first dance
was a Bollywood extravaganza. After taking classes, they choreographed a routine
and for the final verse and chorus were joined by both families. "The funniest was
teaching our parents," Bec says. "They ended up doing a fabulous job. We just kept
repeating 'with your right hand, turn the light bulb, and your left hand, pat the dog.'"

Not to be outdone, Sanjiv's family and friends also put on a surprise Bollywood
dance at the reception.
