SAMANTHA SANDERCOCK AND GREG MCMAHON
CUSTOMS HOUSE, CIRCULAR QUAY AND WATERSEDGE, WALSH BAY, NSW
Samantha and Greg met while they were both out at a pub with friends to see a band. “One of the guys I was with knew Greg, we both got to chatting...both fancied each other,” says Samantha. “And then he asked for my number and we went on a date. I think we were both really casual and relaxed about it all,” she says. Neither of them thought much would come of it but they began seeing each other every week and then started spending more and more time together. “Our relationship developed and as they say the rest is history!”
Greg popped the question unexpectedly one Sunday when they were out for a drink. “The topic of marriage came up and I had joked around about him having to propose...We had only just moved in together so I wasn't expecting anything,” says Samantha. “All of a sudden he asked me to marry him, I laughed and thought he was joking so didn't think any more of it and carried on talking,” she says. But Greg brought the conversation back to the topic of marriage. When she realised he was being serious he asked again. “I accepted. I was in total shock about it all because I was not expecting it one bit!”
The wedding day
They held the ceremony at Customs House in Circular Quay with 143 guests who then made their way to WatersEdge in Walsh Bay for the reception. They opted for a black and white cocktail style reception to help create a party feel. “It was great, everyone mingled and danced the night away!” They finished it off with a lolly table so guests could help themselves all night long.
Samantha wore a slim fitting, backless, satin gown by Johanna Johnson with delicate beading down the back.
The cake had three tiers of different flavours and was decorated with white fondant icing and black ribbons. It came from Casa Del in Marrickville and the cake topper came from Captivating Cake Toppers.
