VANESSA BOCK AND PETER PADDON
DUNBAR HOUSE, WATSONS BAY, NSW
Vanessa and Peter met at a regular social poker game. “A friend of mine invited me to join, and Pete was one of the other players,” says Vanessa. “We enjoy a close companionship that makes all the small parts of life beautiful, such as lazy Sundays doing the crossword and nine-letter.”
The proposal came while they were away on a skiing trip in New Zealand. Peter had arranged a surprise day of heliskiing – off-track skiing accessed via helicopter. “On the top of Mount Magnificence, he dropped to one knee in the snow and asked me to marry him,” says Vanessa.
The wedding day
They tied the knot in front of 85 guests under an old fig tree outside Dunbar House in Watsons Bay. They chose to create an elegant and vintage look with soft blues, greys and pinks. The highlight of the day: “Walking down the aisle towards the love of my life,” says Vanessa.
Vanessa wore the ‘Viva’ gown by Johanna Johnson. It was made from a flowing vintage silk satin and featured a V-neck with a plunging backline that was accentuated with Parisian hand-beading.
The cake had three tiers – chocolate, banana and vanilla. It was decorated with a white fondant icing and a blue damask pattern. It came from That’s My Cake in Watsons Bay.
The photos were taken by Lachlan Burrell Photography.
They went to the Italian island of Capri, Provence in France, New York and Las Vegas.
