The meeting
Jay and Tammerly met through mutual friends when they were in their last year of high school. “At 17 I was boy-confident!!” says Tammerly. “I went over, introduced myself and shook Jay's hand...Our first impressions were: I thought Jay was a nerd and he thought that I was a bimbo!!” she says. But it wasn’t until the following year that they got to know each other better on the phone and eventually went on their first date. “Like all couples we have had our rough patches but we have moved forward and put these times behind us,” she says. “We complement one another with our cheeky sense of humour. Jay is a realist - rational and thoughtful in every way whereas I am a quick thinker and hasty with my choices so we balance one another out.”

The proposal
After going ring shopping together, Jay packed a picnic lunch one Sunday and took her to a secluded beach called Maitland Bay. “It is such a beautiful location - we watched the waves roll in and out while we listened to music and enjoyed a feast consisting of prawns, champagne, cheeses and everything else you can possibly imagine,” says Tammerly. A few hours later they walked down to the rock pool hand in hand. “He was really nervous which made me nervous also,” says Tammerly. Once he had worked up the courage he proposed on one knee. “I said yes with a huge smile on my face and we both giggled like teenagers who had just had their first kiss!”

The wedding day
“Jay and I wanted a beautiful wedding that was small and not overdone,” says Tammerly. They shared the day with 45 of their closest family and friends. “As Jay and his family love the water, we wanted to be as close to the beach as possible,” she says. Before moving on to the reception, which took place in one of the apartments overlooking the water, Jay and Tammerly had their photos taken. Meanwhile, their guests were treated to drinks and snacks in the pool room.

The dress
Tammerly wore a one-off, Alex Perry gown bought at an online Australian Women’s Weekly auction for ovarian cancer research. It was an empire line gown in a silver-grey silk with a corset-style bodice, sweetheart neckline and one cross-over strap.

The cake
They had a cupcake tower with a mixture of caramel and white chocolate cupcakes. It was made by Batch Patisserie in Avalon.

The photography
The photos were taken by Jemma Milanovic.

The honeymoon
They went to Nusa Dua in Bali.
