DREAMCATCHER LODGE, PICTON, NSW

The meeting
Robert and Rebecca were attending the same gym and had both signed up for the 12 week challenge. While they had attended the same seminars every fortnight, they didn't meet until Rob sat at her table at the gala dinner at the end of the challenge. “We spent the rest of the night chatting to each other, completely ignoring our dates (his flatmate and my mum); we just seemed to click,” says Rebecca.

The proposal
Rebecca’s mum had been suggesting they go wedding dress shopping as she thought it was inevitable they would get married and she wanted an idea of prices. They spent a successful Saturday trying on dresses and feeling certain they had found the right shop for her dress. “That night I felt down because I did this research without the official question,” says Rebecca. But when she got home Rob took her out to dinner to cheer her up. “After dinner we went home and were just relaxing. Rob said he had a surprise for me and covered my face with a blanket,” she says. When she uncovered her eyes he was kneeling on the floor next to her asking for her hand in marriage. “It was perfect, just the two of us, easy and simple”.

The wedding day
They shared their special day with 65 family and friends in an intimate garden ceremony on the grounds of the Dreamcatcher Lodge in Picton. They went for a classic French style with a modern twist. “After the service was over, almost all of our guests walked up to the matron of honour and said how emotional and personal our service was,” says Rebecca. “We wanted to be able to speak with every guest at our wedding and being that both of my parents used to be chefs we opted for a cocktail style food service”. After the first drinks were served, they kicked off straight away with the speeches and then the dancing began.

The dress
Rebecca wore a slimline, strapless, dupion silk gown with a sweetheart neckline and lace overlay. It came from Evermore Bridal Boutique in Leichhardt.

The cake
They had mini-cakes for their guests to take away – chocolate ganache layer cake with buttercream icing and white chocolate flowers on top. They came from Croquembouche Patisserie in Mascot.

The photos were taken by Peter D Photography.

The honeymoon
They went to the United States – Los Angeles, Bermuda and New York.
