JOANNE MANSON AND ASHLEY MCKAY
SAULT, DAYLESFORD, VIC
Joanne and Ashley met at work. "Beginning with subtle smiles and small talk, soon developing into lunch dates and catching up outside of work," says Joanne. It didn't take long for them to start spending more time together and officially began dating on Joanne's birthday. One of the things they value about their relationship is that they both feel a sense of security and belonging together. "We share everything with each other and understand the importance of communication and compromise which we hope to continue until we are old and grey!" says the 27 year-old.
Ashley popped the question on Joanne's birthday two years later. "Ash told me he had a restaurant booked for dinner but to call him when I was outside his house," says Joanne. "I thought it was a little strange but just went with it". When she arrived at the gate, their new puppy, Saba, came bounding towards her with a note attached to his collar. "Ash had written a short passage about our time together so far," she says. Ashley got down on one knee and asked if she would marry him. "We popped a bottle of champagne, called our families and close friends and missed out entirely on dinner!"
The wedding day
Joanne and Ashley weren't afraid to go against the grain and meet each other for a first look before the ceremony. "It was quite romantic...We had a little kiss, cuddle and chat which helped calm the nerves a bit too!" she says. "It still didn't take away from the moment of walking down the aisle though, because the feeling of approaching Ash with my dad and all my family and friends watching on was special". They held the wedding at Sault in Daylesford with an intimate guestlist of 60. They wanted a country-chic style with a contemporary feel. They created a relaxed yet elegant feel on the day through crisp white tones and pastels.
Joanne wore a strapless, silk georgette gown by Luci DiBella Bridal Couture with a sweetheart neckline. The gown was fitted around the hips and was cinched in at the waist with a Swarovski crystal belt.
They had a two tiered cake - white chocolate mud cake and a raspberry and coconut mud cake. It was decorated with tall shards of white chocolate and fresh hydrangeas. It was made by Christian at Ego Cakes and Catering in Daylesford.
The photos were taken by Stewart Leishman Photography.
They went to South America, Chile and Peru.
