Smooth pick up

The meeting
Alicia and Peter were introduced at a bar in Manly through mutual friends. “We chatted briefly that night and the following weekend bumped into each other again in the same spot,” says Alicia. Peter pulled out the smooth move of pretending to have lost his phone. He asked to borrow Alicia’s to see if he could find it. “Of course I said yes,” she says. “Bingo, my number came up on his screen! It was all a plot to get my number and it worked!”

The proposal
They were living in London at the time as Peter, a professional rugby player, was playing for London Irish. He knew Alicia wanted to be at home in Australia for the engagement to be able to celebrate. “Pete knows I’m onto everything so our proposal was very private,” she says. Peter proposed at midnight in their home in London, the day before she was due to fly back to Sydney. “So I got my wish to celebrate at home with my family and friends! It was perfect!”

The wedding day
They chose a classic yet modern theme for their wedding day which took place at the Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel in Manly. They had 101 guests join in the festivities which continued after the ceremony at Sergeants Mess in Chowder Bay. “We wanted to be last to leave so we stayed right until the end of the night. We also surprised our guests at the end with a karaoke performance,” says Alicia.

The dress
Alicia wore an ivory silk Georgette and satin gown with a V-neck. It featured French Chantilly lace trim on the neckline and a Georgette tie at the back. It came from Louise Alvarez Bridal Couture.

The cake
They chose the black and white chocolate cake from Ganache Patisserie in Castlecrag – a rich chocolate sponge base with a layer of white chocolate mousse and covered with white chocolate.

The photography
The photos were taken by Michelle Stewart Photography.

The honeymoon
They went to the Maldives.
