The meeting
Chris and Monica first met when they travelled together on the same school bus. “It wasn't until about four years later that we bumped into each other at the snow,” says Monica. She was there with her girlfriends and Chris was there with his mates. “He ended up ditching his friends the next day to come snowboarding with us just to spend some more time with me,” says the 26 year-old. “We arranged to meet up the following weekend and now here we are! Chris is an amazing husband and an incredible father and I love watching him with our two kids.”

The proposal
Chris popped the question on a surprise five-day trip to the Grampians National Park. “All I knew was that we had a flight booked for 7:30am and that I had to pack for warm and cool conditions,” says Monica. Chris had booked a cottage at the foothills of the mountains at Halls Gap. The proposal came at the top of Mt Stapylton, a special place for Chris. “He got down on one knee with this ring that he had stowed away and he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him - very beautiful and special.”

The wedding day
“We loved everything about our day, it was absolutely perfect and so much fun,” says Monica. They tied the knot in front of 87 guests at the All Saints Chapel in the Hunter Valley. The day had a colour theme of ivory, lavender and soft green to set the scene for a romantic and intimate country wedding.

The dress
Monica wore a strapless, A-line gown with a floral tulle overlay. It was a Henry Roth design and came from The Bridal Co in Newcastle.

The photography
The photos were taken by April Werz.

The honeymoon
They went to Blackheath in the Blue Mountains, NSW.
