Gray kicks a goal from close range and Port strikes first in the third quarter!
The ball was tumbling towards goal and Jay Schulz went down to flick the ball up to Gray.

Q2 29.00 - CAR 8.7 (55) PORT 7.4 (46)
Jamison goes to Westhoff now...but it makes no difference as Westhoff marks at the top of 50m and turns to set up Butcher!
This one is no guarantee...30m out in front...and he nearly puts it out on the full to the right. You'd say a shocker but unfortunately that is par for the course when it comes to Butcher's set shots.
Q2 27.30 - CAR 8.7 (55) PORT 7.3 (45)
It's the Westhoff show! Four for the quarter!
Shulz went long to the hot spot where Westhoff out-pointed Watson to mark!

Q2 26.00 - CAR 8.7 (55) PORT 6.3 (39)
Robbie Gray is all alone in the forward pocket and marks after a short pass by Westhoff.
It was a good contested grab by Westhoff at the top of 50m.

Port attack again from the Carlton clearance as Wines sweeps onto the ball but his 50m shot hits the post.

Gibbs arrived at the top of 50m and let rip with a shot...it was perfect! The margin is blowing back out again.
Q2 19.30 - CAR 7.7 (49) PORT 5.1 (31)
Curnow has a double now as he goals from 50m on the run!
An unfortunate bounce took Cassisi out of the contest on half back near the boundary and allowed Curnow to run onto the ball.
Curnow took it to the top of 50 and drilled the shot on a 45-degree angle!
Q2 18.00 - CAR 6.7 (43) PORT 5.1 (31)
Pack forms below a throw-in...Jonas wrapped up by two Blues...and the umpire is hatching one. We wait...and wait...and it's holding the ball!
Jonas gets up bemused by Dale Thomas is the one with the ball!
Thomas shoots from 35m on a tight angle...and leaves it wide to the near (right) side for a point.
Q2 15.30 - CAR 6.6 (42) PORT 5.1 (31)
Tempers simmering now as Westhoff is taken out by Walker!
He gets up dazed but is able to walk to the goalsquare and kick his third for the quarter!
Walker was going back with the flight and got the full force of Walker who was leaping from behind to spoil.
Replays would suggest Westhoff might even have been lucky to get 50m given Walker just about made his ground for the spoil and wasn't horribly late.
Q2 13.15 - CAR 6.6 (42) PORT 4.1 (25)
Carlton get the centre break...and Thomas gets a push in the back at the fall of the ball inside 50m! Kane Cornes the offender.
Thomas kicks from 40m on a slight angle...and hangs it out to the right.
Replays show that Curnow's goal a moment ago came after a throw by Ellard to get him the ball. The umpire was blind-sided.
Q2 12.00 - CAR 6.5 (41) PORT 4.1 (25)
A big pack of players fighting for the ball 20m out from Carlton's goal...Curnow snaps it out of the traffic and through for a goal!
Carlton with the answers to Port's fast start to this second quarter.
Q2 10.00 - CAR 5.5 (35) PORT 4.1 (25)

Gibbs converts from point-blank range to restore the double-figure margin.
Q2 6.30 - CAR 4.5 (29) PORT 4.1 (25)
Port are roaring as Shulz marks and goals!
Matt White sent the ball long to teh top of the square where Shulz got up for his own contender for mark of the week, soaring over Watson!
Shulz converted from the top of the goal square. What a burst from Port!
Q2 5.15 - CAR 4.5 (29) PORT 3.1 (19)
A moment of madness from Westhoff but he still gets a goal!
Whatever Ken Hinkley said at quarter time clearly worked!
Port cleared through Harlett to Monfries on half forward...the ball went long to the square where Westhoff marked!
Rather than line up 10m out in front he played on, almost straight into a tackle!
But Westhoff was lucky enough to throw the ball on the boot in time to still put through the goal. He made hard work of what should have been easy!
Q2 4.15 - CAR 4.5 (29) PORT 2.1 (13)
Port pegging it back as Westhoff goals from the square.
Harlett was brilliant in dodging two tackles from the boundary throw-in to clear the ball into the corridor. Wingard then haded it off to Westhoff for an easy finish.
Q2 3.00 - CAR 4.5 (29) PORT 1.1 (7)
Westhoff takes a snap on goal under pressure from 30m but can't get enough power...it bounces out for a throw.
Q2 1.15 - CAR 4.4 (28) PORT 1.1 (7)
Robinson picked up the ball 50m out on the boundary and ran around the line...he looked in board and didn't like the options so he went for a dribble kick! But bent across the face and out for a boundary throw-in.
Q2 START - CAR 4.4 (28) PORT 1.0 (6)
So can Port hit back or will Carlton continue to dominate?
QTR TIME - CAR 4.4 (28) PORT 1.0 (6)
Carlton in control at the first break but perhaps it's not quite reflected on the scoreboard.
The Blues had 13 inside-50s to six, lead contested possessions 53-35 and clearances 15-9.
Kane Cornes (10), Chad Wingard (nine) and Ollie Wines (nine) lead ball-winners along with Carlton's Brock McLean (nine), Mitch Robinson and Andrew Walker (eight).
David Ellard (two goals, five possessions) is the only multiple goal-kicker so far.
Dom Cassisi has been kept quiet with just the two touches and one tackle in the first quarter.
QTR TIME - CAR 4.4 (28) PORT 1.0 (6)
Siren sounds with Carlton switching flanks through the back 50m.
Q1 30.00 - CAR 4.4 (28) PORT 1.0 (6)
Inside the last minute. Boundary throw-in on the wing.
Q1 27.45 - CAR 4.4 (28) PORT 1.0 (6)
Carlton flowing through the centre square!
Robinson and Walker were alone in the corridor after a quick clearance got the ball into open space.
Robinson's kick from 55m falls in the square where Trengove does just enough to put off Warnock...the ball is bundled through for a rushed behind.
Q1 26.20 - CAR 4.3 (27) PORT 1.0 (6)
Inside the last four minutes on the count-down clock.
Save for a three minute spell after Port's first goal it really has felt like Carlton domination.
Q1 24.00 - CAR 4.3 (27) PORT 1.0 (6)
Ellard's on fire!
A kick inside 50m looking for Garlett was spilled off hands into the path of Ellard...he pushed off Pittard legally, roved the ball and snapped a left foot goal from 30m! It just squeezed inside the left-hand post!
Q1 21.30 - CAR 3.3 (21) PORT 1.0 (6)
End to end movement from Carlton brings a goal to Ellard!
Murphy chased down Boak and caught him holding the ball on Carlton's half back flank!
The Blues swept down the field with Ellard marking 45m out on the boundary.
Pittard pushed him a bit late for the umpire's liking and walked him to the goal line with a 50m penalty! A real team lifter for Carlton.
Q1 17.30 - CAR 2.3 (15) PORT 1.0 (6)
Henderson and Trengove juggle the ball at the top of the Carlton 50m...Henderson grabs it last and is awarded the mark.
Henderson chips short into the pocket for Tom Bell running forward.
Bell lines up the set shot 40m out on a tight angle...and puts it across the face of goal for a point.
Q1 15.45 - CAR 2.2 (14) PORT 1.0 (6)
Kane Cornes (six touches) and Marc Murphy (five) are the early ball magnets.
Port take the ball around the wing to spot up Schulz 50m out about 5m in from the boundary...Schulz's set shot is hooked to the near side and out of bounds on the full!
Not a great start from the normally reliable key forward.
Q1 13.00 - CAR 2.2 (14) PORT 1.0 (6)
Port now with a foothold in the game...long kick inside forward 50m is looking for Butcher...he can't bring down the mark amid howls from the Port cheer squad for a free.
Out for a throw-in.
Q1 11.05 - CAR 2.2 (14) PORT 1.0 (6)
Port finally take the ball inside forward 50m...and it's a good move too.
Boak was running around the right sideline and took the ball to 40m out...he looked into the corridor rather than go for the shot on goal and found Hartlett who took a strong overhead mark.
Harlett kicks from 40m on a slight angle...and puts it through! The steadier for Port Adelaide.
Q1 9.15 - CAR 2.2 (14) PORT 0.0 (0)
Trends of the weekend continuing...umpires letting big packs form and fight for the ball for even longer than normal before calling for a bounce.
Q1 7.30 - CAR 2.2 (14) PORT 0.0 (0)
Port look shell-shocked as Everitt drags down a contested mark from a high bomb to the top of the square!
The set shot is a formality...Everitt kicks his first goal in navy Blue from 15m out.
Q1 6.30 - CAR 1.2 (8) PORT 0.0 (0)
High kick inside forward 50m to the pocket...Waite!
Leaping from five deep he soared above Westhoff to bring down the mark of the weekend!
Does he have the kick to match...no, it doesn't even make the distance from 35m and goes across the face for a throw-in!
Q1 3.30 - CAR 1.2 (8) PORT 0.0 (0)
Welcome to the Blues Dale Thomas!
A tumbling kick to the top of 50m was picked up by Everitt and dished off to Thomas front and centre.
Thomas took a left-footed snap shot on the fly and it bounced through from 45m!
Q1 1.00 - CAR 0.1 (1) PORT 0.0 (0)
An early controversy as Garlett snaps what he thinks is a goal...but the umpire wants a score review!
It's a good decision because replays show the ball deflected off Dale Thomas' head as the snap kick from Garlett went through a pack of players.
First score of the night.
