One goal was enough on Friday night for Western Sydney Wanderes to take the points in front of 8070 people at AAMI Park.
Shannon Cole's first-half strike was enough to win, either side of Heart creating a swathe of half-chances.
Wanderers take a temporary hold on top spot in the A-League while Heart remain 10th and last behind the Wellington Phoenix on goal difference.

Spiranovic rose high at the back post to put a header on goal which beat Redmayne but hit the bar...it fell kindly to an unmarked Santalab who had the ball hit him unexpectedly.

D'Apuzzo put a ball in from the left which skimmed off the jumping pack and fell to Cole on the right side of the area.
Cole had a left-foot shot blocked, but the ball fell kindly for his right foot and his sweeping kick went across the face, through the pack of players and in for the opening goal!

Chaos at the top of the penalty area for Wanderers!
Covic was dashing off his line but misread the speed of the ball...Topor-Stanley was coming across to cover but he was under pressure from Williams!
Topor-Stanley knocked Williams to ground and Covic crashed over the top of both!
The ball was loose for a second before WSW swept clear.
There were shouts from the fans for a penalty but hard to see how one could have been given.

Behich running forward again...legged by La Rocca! But no free kick forthcoming.
Heart win the ball back through Williams...he runs down the left and crosses into the area but it's straight at Covic who catches on his chest.

But some desperate defending by La Rocca puts the ball out for a throw and buys WSW a breather to re-set.

Pass to Williams on the right...Williams crosses into the area looking for Mifsud but Polenz gets his foot on the ball first!

Behich goes on a dashing run from half way into the Wanderers' penalty area...he plays it to Mifsud who turns to face goal...but Mifsud passed anticipating a one-two and D'Apuzzo made the easy interception!

Mooy with WSW's first meaningful attack...running into the area down the left but then opening his body to shoot with his right.
Mooy tried to curl it around Redmayne but the shot was too close to the Heart 'keeper who dives and makes the stop.

Melbourne Heart starts tonight in 10th and last (two points) behind the only other winless team in the A-League, Wellington Phoenix (two) on goal difference.
Heart will climb to sixth with a win tonight, but will likely drop to sixth regardless of the outcome in the Adelaide United-Newcastle Jets game later this weekend.
Wanderers can claim top with a win and a favourable result in Central Coast's match against Brisbane. Defeat will leave the Wanderers vulnerable to dropping as low as fifth by the end of the round.
Both teams are out on the ground warming up. There's a modest crowd of about 4000 in the stands currently but plenty of people on the concourse.
