Besart Berisha will get the headlines but the real story here is the resilience of this Brisbane Roar outfit. They have fought back from 1-0 down and played the bulk of the second half with their striker sent off (50th minute). Henrique found the winner in the 73rd minute and Brisbane took it up a few notches after Berisha was marched again. Off to the pressers - Mike Mulvey will have a bit to say I'd think.
FULLTIME Brisbane Roar 2 Melbourne Heart 1.
Brisbane up the right end of the park and they are going to close this one out. What a morale boosting win on the road to the finals. Cannot write them off at home against anyone.
Heart not getting it done. Poor control at the back and they hand it over to the Roar. Brisbane has lifted and largely dominated, to be honest, since the send off. Heart have a few minutes to try and salvage a point.
Brisbane clinging on to this 2-1 lead and this would be a huge win given they've played the bulk of the second half with Berisha cooling his jets. Heart's season is all but over now - they needed a win to have any sort of chance to make the finals. Three minutes left in regulation time.Back to top
Crowd here is 10,101. Weather has taken a toll. About the same as Roosters-Manly by the sounds of things.
Brisbane playing angry now.
GOAL Brisbane! They have dug their heels in at Suncorp! And after weeks of failing to convert chances, it's Henrique with the decisive strike! Brisbane lead 2-1 and they are pumped up now. And the latest on Berisha is we think it is just the one game ban, not two as we were told earlier.
Miller! Wow... should have buried that for the Roar. Huge miss given they are down a man. Brisbane won't get a better look than that tonight. Still 1-1 with 64 minutes gone.
Another look - think there was contact between boot and head in the Berisha incident. A few types tweeting that he may have played his final game for the Roar but that would only be the case if they add another game to the existing ban and Brisbane get done in the first week of the finals.Back to top
So that's the third red card for the year for Berisha and he will be suspended for two matches, meaning he won't be back until the finals. Hey, at least he's going to be fresh. It's 1-1 at Suncorp - 57 minutes gone.
Heating up now. Hard foul on Broich from Wielaert and Brisbane are furious. He gets a booking. And the replay of the Berisha incident surely shows that was hardly done by - but I think his reputation precedes him. Boot hit Velaphi on the shoulder not the head and he was trying to score a goal. The crowd aren't impressed.
RED CARD for Berisha! Dear oh dear. He's absolutely gutted. Gone for a studs up challenge that clatters into the head of the diving Velaphi. The lunge wasn't particularly disciplined but there's an element of bad luck there. He got to the ball first and his boot has rolled up off the top and hit the Heart keeper. Hard to say who's right or wrong there. But that's his second red in as many games.
Away we go in the second - North off for the Roar, Donachie on at the back.
HALFTIME It's 1-1 at Suncorp. Good go here between the Roar and the Heart. Goals to Behich and and Petratos.Back to top
The Roar are switching on now. Lovely structure and Broich looming on the left. They force the corner - it finds the far post! Heart clear but it clangs back to Ferreira. Put the laces through it but it sails over the top.
Berisha! Oh dear.... had all the time in the world and whacks it right to Velaphi. Boy oh boy that was a good chance. Still 1-1 and the game has gone up a gear here.
Scoop: Broich on the deck after a foul. Taking his time getting up as Brisbane set for the corner. Good build up here and GOAL to Brisbane. Petratos in behind and smashes it past Velaphi on the tight angle. Game on - it's 1-1.
Brisbane trying to get back into this one but it's ugly stuff. That attempted cross from Behich wasn't flattering either. Heart lead 1-0 and they are playing like a team with everything to play for at this end of the season. Brisbane missing the control of Luke Brattan here.
Brisbane in la-la land at the moment. All over the shop. Wild passes, men in bad spots, no fluency.... Mulvey will bleed paint off the walls at halftime. Heart deservedly in control of this one. They lead 1-0.Back to top
