JAMES POLSON: A massive win for the Titans there, their first over the Bulldogs in Sydney. That puts them back in the top eight and well ahead of the Raiders on for-and-against, as well as the Warriors who are two points adrift. The Titans face the Warriors in the final four rounds in their only remaining home match and that could go a long way to deciding the makeup of the eight. As for the Bulldogs, that's just about curtains for their top-four hopes and so it should be - there's daylight between Des Hasler's men and the sides currently at the pointy end. Thanks for your company tonight and be sure to grab a copy of tomorrow's Herald or log on to smh.com.au for Glenn Jackson's take on tonight's action. We'll be back on Friday night to kick off round 23.
80 min: Sezer sets for a field goal and it's charged down from an offside position. That'll be it. Titans 26 Bulldogs 16 after Sezer adds the two points.
79 min: Sezer lands another one from out wide and that's the ball game. Titans 24 Bulldogs 16.
77 min: TRY. Great stuff from Greg Bird who seems to spend an eternity trying to promote the ball and find the offload. He eventually does and Kevin Gordon dives over to bag his third. The Bulldogs heads are down and that tells the story. Titans 22 Bulldogs 16, kick to come.
76 min: Mitch Brown caught in goal. The Titans' chase has been well ahead of that of the hosts tonight.
75 min: No pressure on David Mead fielding the high ball and he runs nearly 60m before offloading to Kevin Gordon.
73 min: Try awarded. Hodkinson will have the kick from right in front.
73 min: GAME ON. Josh Reynolds runs it on the last and goes 40m to score. Looking to see if Josh Morris got a hand to the offload before Reynolds but this looks fine to me. Titans 18 Bulldogs 14, kick to come.
70 min: Change for the Titans this time - Sam Irwin is on for Beau Falloon.
68 min: Beau Falloon tries to burrow over but he's held up. The Titans have one more tackle 10m out.
67 min: Dene Halatau on for the Bulldogs for Aiden Tolman. The Titans have a scrum feed 20m out from the Dogs line.
66 min: But back to the task at hand and the Dogs to to the air on the last right on the Titans line but it's an easy one for the visitors. Titans still lead 18-10.
Ryan Harris is on a hat-trick. Matt Prior gone first ball. How good has he been this series?
Over in the mother country, that pesky Ian Bell is gone for 113 after a peach of a ball from Ryan Harris. England 6-251 and they lead by 219.
61 min: Titans unable to capitalise as Brad Takairangi knocks on on the third tackle.
60 min: Penalty to the Titans - their 10th and the 21st of the match.
57 min: That was a huge kick from Aidan Sezer - he lands it from the sideline and the lead is out to eight. Titans 18 Bulldogs 10.
56 min: TRY. David Mead shows plenty of speed to charge through after taking a peach of an offload from Ashley Harrison, who's been in everything tonight. Titans 16 Bulldogs 10, kick to come.
54 min: And Krisnan Inu promptly knocks on on tackle one. Who'd be a coach?
On further viewings, it looks like Josh Jackson has missed it completely and Jamie Dowling has copped it in the melon - the Titan could be up for a try assist here.
52 min: Josh Reynolds is over for the Bulldogs but it looks like it's gone forward off Josh Jackson en route. Onfield call is no try.
49 min: Krisnan Inu hits the post. Score remains 12-10 to the Titans.
48 min: TRY. There's nothing wrong with this one. Trent Hodkinson goes from dummy-half and burrows over for the Dogs. Great play from the halfback. Titans 12 Bulldogs 10, kick to come.
46 min: And that raid comes to nothing for the Bulldogs but they will receive the line drop-out.
45 min: Aidan Sezer penalised for a strip. And not of the Wati Holmwood variety.
43 min: No try ruled and to add insult to injury Williams is penalised for a double movement.
43 min: Tony Williams barges over but I don't think he's got to the line. Referee heads upstairs and he's in agreement.
42 min: Dave Taylor has knocked on and the Bulldogs have another set just 30m out.
GLENN JACKSON: The Bulldogs have had their chances, but the Titans have the lead. The home side have had several opportunities to score in the first half, but have only managed the one, through their winger Sam Perrett, following Josh Morris's neat offload. The Titans, meanwhile, have posted two tries, both scored by Perrett's opposite Kevin Gordon. The Bulldogs will be sweating on the fitness of prop Sam Kasiano, who limped off late.
JAMES POLSON: A frantic end to what has been an intriguing opening 40 minutes there. The Titans started with intent and barely let up - they've clearly been the stronger side but the Bulldogs won't be giving up. Discipline is a big issue for both sides - with their eyes firmly fixed on the finals they won't want to be giving away silly penalties and you can bet your life both Des Hasler and John Cartwright will be mentioning that in the sheds. Back shortly with Glenn Jackson's take on the first half.
41 min: Dave Taylor charges down the Dogs kick and it looks like the Titans may not be quite done yet but the Dogs dive on it and that's it for the first half. Titans 12 Bulldogs 6.
40 min: Josh Reynolds goes for the intercept and goes very close to getting it.
39 min: Ashley Harrison almost takes the restart dead. I think he actually did.
39 min: Sezer slots an early kick to bring the lead to six. Titans 12 Bulldogs 6.
And in even worse news for the Dogs - Sam Kasiano looks like he's limping off.
37 min: A one-on-one strip has the Titans on the attack again, and Dale Finucane is subsequently penalised for being inside the 10. Looks like Aidan Sezer will take the two points this time.
36 min: Ashley Harrison comes up with a trysaving tackle as big Tony Williams dives for the line, losing the ball in the process. Titans feed.
35 min: And there's another one - 15 for the match and we're not even up to half-time.
34 min: Change for the Dogs - Tony Williams on for Frank Pritchard. And another penalty goes their way.
33 min: And this time it's the Dogs getting the ref's call and their own chance to trouble the scorers again before the break.
33 minute: And another infringement in the ruck results in another penalty. Titans not interested in taking the two points however.
32 min: Back to back penalties for the Titans as they look to restore their 10-point advantage before the break. Unsurprisingly, Michael Ennis has a fair bit to say. He seems to have improved his vocabulary since last season though.
27 min: Trent Hodkinson converts from out wide. Titans 10 Bulldogs 6.
26 min: Try awarded and the Dogs are on the board. Titans 10 Bulldogs 4, kick to come.
26 min: And it pays immediate dividends. The Doggies spread wide and create the overlap through Tolman, Reynolds and Morris who offloads to Sam Perrett to score in the corner. Try ruled but we're having a look, this should be fine.
25 min: Another penalty to the Dogs and with it a golden opportunity to hit back.
24 min: Sezer goes to the air again and once again it's Kevin Gordon chasing but the Dogs do well. And then win a penalty.
21 min: Aidan Sezer hits the conversion well from the sideline. Titans 10 Bulldogs 0.
20 min: Nothing wrong with that one. Try awarded. Titans 8 Bulldogs 0, kick to come.
20 min: Another try to Kevin Gordon out wide. Falloon goes sideways before a lovely second-man ball out to David Mead who offloads to Gordon who takes a nice catch to score. Going upstairs but the onfield call is try.
19 min: Another penalty to their Titans, their fourth of the night so far.
17 min: Change for the Dogs: James Graham is on for Sam Kasiano. Which means it must have been Aiden Tolman who took tonight's first hit-up. My apologies. Send all hate mail care of Paul Zalunardo.
17 min: The Dogs are back in possession for the first time in a long time. Vocal crowd on hand tonight.
16 min: Beau Falloon goes from dummy-half, doesn't quite make it and wins a penalty in the process, giving Michael Ennis a spray just for good measure.
15 min: Ryan James has been bent in all directions by Sam Kasiano and there's a break in play as he gets some attention.
14 min: Josh Morris taken in goal following Ashley Harrison's kick to force a dropout for the Titans.
12 min: Bird is back to his feet and playing the ball but he looks more than a little uncomfortable. His Titans still lead 4-0.
11 min: Greg Bird looks to have had his knee twisted in a tackle and this isn't good for the Titans. Nothing malicious in it but he looks in some distress.
And Krisnan Inu has knocked on. That's the end of that one for Canterbury.
10 min: The Bulldogs make a break but unfortunately it's Sam Kasiano who does so. He's brought down about 10m out but it's still on for the Dogs.
9 min: Sam Kasiano, the heaviest man in the game, absolutely cleans up David Mead on the fifth tackle. Great stuff.
5 min: TRY. Aidan Sezer bombs to the corner and it's Kevin Gordon, who's done this a few times this year, who leaps and scores for the visitors. Gold Coast 4 Canterbury 0, kick to come.
4 min: Penalty goes the Titans' way this time after David Mead does well to get back into the field of play after another Dogs' kick.
2 min: The Dogs kick early but Kevin Gordon is there to clean up on his own line for the Titans.
1 min: Nate Myles penalised with a little help from Michael Ennis. Early opportunity for the Dogs.
1 min: The Titans get us under way as James Graham takes the first hit-up.
As for the visitors, just a positional change with Luke Douglas benched for Ryan James.
For the Bulldogs, Sam Kasiano and Josh Jackson are into the starting 13, leaving James Graham and Tony Williams relegated to the bench.
JAMES POLSON: Welcome to ANZ Stadium for tonight's coverage of the Bulldogs v Titans. The boys from the Gold Coast can sneak back into the eight with a win tonight but the Bulldogs won't be giving up easily, they've still got their eyes on a top-four berth but heading into this clash five points behind the Storm that's looking more and more like a pipe dream with just four rounds left to play. We'll be back in a moment with team news from both sides.

Phil Mitchell writes: The Titans grabbed some valuable momentum and jumped into ninth place with a 36-6 thrashing of the Tigers last Sunday – and just as well because they have a tough run home. Four of their final five clashes are against genuine finals contenders, including the Roosters and Storm. But first Gold Coast must overcome a Canterbury side that is in the groove after three successive wins. Now in fifth spot, the Bulldogs would rise to only one point outside the top four if they defeat the Titans and either Melbourne or Manly lose. The Titans have won only two of eight away matches this season and, remarkably, this will be their first Sydney match against the Bulldogs in six years after recent away clashes in Brisbane.
Phil's tip: Bulldogs by eight.
AAP writes: The good news for the Gold Coast was that they snapped their four-game losing run last round. The bad news was that it was only against the lowly Wests Tigers. This will provide a more accurate form gauge for the ninth-placed Titans hoping to make a finals footy impact. The Titans won’t need to be reminded that the last time they lined up against quality opposition they missed 51 tackles and were thumped 32-4 by South Sydney. And like Bob Geldof, the Titans don’t like Mondays. They have won two of seven games played on the school night. Gold Coast’s backs may be injury-hit but they have more than enough forward depth to muscle up against the Bulldogs grunt of Sam Kasiano, James Graham and company. In an ominous sign, a Ben Barba-less Bulldogs have still rumbled onto three straight wins with a top four finish in sight.
Key: David Mead - if the Titans forwards do their job. He relished filling in for William Zillman at fullback, running 161m last round. Against a Bulldogs line-up without Barba, Mead will be again be out to run amok if the Gold Coast big boys hold up their end of the bargain.
BULLDOGS: Sam Perrett, Mitch Brown, Josh Morris, Tim Lafai, Krisnan Inu, Josh Reynolds, Trent Hodkinson, Aiden Tolman, Michael Ennis (capt), James Graham, Frank Pritchard, Tony Williams, Greg Eastwood. Interchange: Dene Halatau, Josh Jackson, Sam Kasiano, Dale Finucane, Tim Browne (one to be omitted).
TITANS: David Mead, Kevin Gordon, Brad Takairangi, Jamie Dowling, Anthony Don, Ashley Harrison, Aidan Sezer, Luke Douglas, Beau Falloon, Nate Myles, Ben Ridge, Mark Minichiello, Greg Bird. Interchange: David Taylor, Ryan James, Luke O’Dwyer, Sam Irwin.
