FULL-TIME: Souths 20-16. Rabbitohs hang on to score their 1000th premiership win, despite not scoring a point for the final hour of the match. Thanks for joining me tonight - see you next time.
79 min: Cowboys have the ball but have to go 90 metres within 90 seconds.
76 min: Graham in for a second try. Thurston's kick hits the upright. Souths 20-16. Thrilling finish coming up.
74 min: Cowboys deny Taylor a second try when Thurston knocks the ball out of his hands over the tryline.
71 min: Bowen is having one of those nights: he's thrown two passes over his wingers' heads into touch and now's he's tossed another one forward. Just what the Cowboys didn't need.
68 min: Cowboys continue to threaten the Rabbitohs' line but unable to score. Now it's Souths' turn to attack after Matt Bowen is caught in-goal.
62 min: Some inspired defence from Souths keeps the Cowboys pinned deep in their own half.
55 min: Cowboys are in again, with winger Ashley Graham scoring his eighth try of the season. Thurston curls the kick beautifully as usual. Souths 20-12. Souths fan getting a little nervous, and who can blame them.
48 min: Cowboys are on the board - courtesy of a try from the man with the Arsenio Hall haircut, hooker James Segeyaro. Johnathan Thurston on target with the conversion. Souths 20-6.
Here's ace Sun-Herald reporter Adrian Proszenko's take on the first 40 minutes:
"What an amazing first half! What an amazing first quarter! It was 20-0 after as many minutes, in favour of South Sydney. All of their big guns - Greg Inglis, Issac Luke and the biggest bazooka of them all, Dave Taylor - have run riot. The Cowboys have stemmed the bleeding in the second quarter but will need to score first in the second half or things could get ugly. Very ugly."
Half-time: Souths 20-0. Love to be a fly on the wall of the Cowboys' dressing room during the break.
33 min: Another great run by Inglis, what a night out he is having.
32 min: The Cowboys have stopped the 'bleeding' but desperately need a try of their own - and fast.
19 min: TRY! No stopping the Coal Train aka Dave Taylor from a few metres out. Reynolds adds the extras. Souths 20-0. If the Cowboys aren't next to score, they can start thinking about next week.
16 min: Luke adds a penalty goal after Tariq Sims is penalised and put on report for a late tackle. Souths 14-0.
11 min: Another TRY to Souths as Luke proves too strong for four Cowboys defenders close to the line. Reynolds converts. Souths 12-0.
9 min: Cowboys back on the attack after forcing a goal-line dropout. But Bunnies are again equal to the challenge as Merritt intercepts a pass.
6 min: Crunching tackle by Souths winger Andrew Everingham shuts down a dangerous Cowboys attack and forces the ball loose. Scrum feed Bunnies.
3 min: Great start for Souths, TRY to Greg Inglis after a well-worked runaround play with five-eighth John Sutton. Adam Reynolds lands the goal. Souths 6-0.
Issac Luke kicks off ...
Good evening all, big boost for the Bunnies with the inclusion of Nathan Merritt for his first NRL match of the season. Chris McQueen, who was originally named on the wing, will start on the bench. For the Cowboys, bench forward Glenn Hall is out with injury; his replacement is Scott Bolton.
