Steve Samuelson writes: NSW are on a nine-game losing streak, the Rebels have won one from seven. The Tahs forward pack should lay the platform for victory but they must execute better in attack than against the Reds last week.
AAP writes: The Waratahs looked like a team that hadn’t played much together last week, and that’s exactly what they were in their 25-17 loss to Queensland. They still could well have won, but instead cracked under pressure. It shouldn’t be long before they start winning the close ones under Michael Cheika.
Cheika has recalled Benn Robinson, but Berrick Barnes is still another week away, meaning Tom Carter needs to improve his passing. On paper, NSW should have too much firepower up front against the Rebels, who are missing skipper and No.8 Gareth Delve. Kurtley Beale’s troublesome shoulder is a concern when they need both him and first-time captain James O’Connor at their best.
