    Live: Brumbies v Crusaders

    Date

Catch all the action from Canberra Stadium as the Brumbies take on arch rivals the Crusaders.

    Sort posts by:

80: But7 Pat McCabe gets bundled into touch from the restart and the siren sounds. Crusaders lineout, the visitors win it and that's all she wrote. The Brumbies get a bonus point to give them a two point lead over the Reds on the Australian conference ladder. Crusaders were clearly the better side on the night and deserved the win. Crusaders win 30-23.

80: Suddenly the Brumbies have come alive and are inside Crusaders 22. Mowen taken out off the ball, could be some action taken here. Penalty Brumbies. Bizarrely the Crusaders doctor is talking to the ref arguing the Crusaders tackler was injured and didn't know what he was doing. Lealiifano with the shot and he nails it. Brumbies now have a bonus point and a chance of a draw with 34 seconds left. Crusaders 30-23.

76: Brumbies have a slight chance of a bonus point now...

74: So just one point will separate the  Brumbies from the Reds at the top of the Australian conference after this loss. There'll be non fairytale win for Smith in his record 137th Super Rugby game despite a massive game from the openside flanker. Consolation try for the Brumbies as captain Mowen goes over, quickly converted by Lealiifano. Crusaders 30-20.

72: Game over at Canberra Stadium. A stuttering Crusaders too good for the Brumbies. Peter Kimlin lost the ball in the Crusaders 22 and the visitors go almost the length of the field for Israel Dagg to score and end this game as a contest. Crusaders 30-13.

70: Crowd of 16544 here at Canberra Stadium, which is what it was tracking for earlier in the week. A strong Brumbies scrum earns them a penalty and Moore has the lineout  40m out. Tick tock goes the clock as the Brumbies swing it from side to side, now inside the 22...

36: Penalty to Brumbies and the crowd boos Ben Mowen's decision to take the points. Lealiifano 12m out almost directly in front. Crowd wants them to attack the tryline. Crusaders 23-13.

34: While Lealiifano missed his penalty kick, Carter doesn't, eating up a couple of precious of minutes as well. Crusaders 23-10. Robbie Coleman on for Mogg...

61: Brumbies win a penalty about 43m out 12m from the side line. Lealiifano pushes it wide and the Crusaders still lead by 10. Time running out for the Brumbies, they really needed that...

55: Crusaders again stretching the Brumbies defensive line swinging the ball from side to side and it ends up with a penalty to the visitors. Carter nails it. Crusaders 20-10.

42: Dan Palmer off, Scott Sio on in his place. Tevita Kuridrani off with an injury (hip?) and Pat McCabe takes the field.

50: Crusaders work the overlap with Ryan Crotty getting the offload away and it ends up with winger Zac Guildford to charge to the corner. Big test now for the Brumbies to see if they can come back from here. They're really struggling to maintain possession. Carter successful with the extras. Crusaders 17-10.

44: Brumbies hooker Steve Moore struggling with his lineout throws, but luckily the Crusaders knock on as he overthrows the line...

Joe Tomane starting to get some ball out wide...

41: Cracking start to the second half by the Brumbies as Henry Speight does some bulldozering at the kick off and the Brumbies press the line. More importantly, Ben Mowen has fixed his head gear...

Appears cloning has gone well beyond sheep...

Half-time: A bit of a scrappy first half comes to an end. Crusaders dominating possession and forcing the Brumbies to defend their try line on numerous occasions. George Smith is playing a blinder in his record-breaking 137th game for the Brums. At times he's been used as a third ball player, putting through a lovely grubber kick for Joe Tomane at one stage. Plus he's making his mandatory 3000 tackles as well.

37: A penalty to the Brumbies! Jesse Mogg to take a long-range attempt from the halfway line, but he completely scuffs it and we'll end up with a lineout for the Brumbies near the halfway line. Chance to take the lead into half-time goes begging. Not long till the break.

Plenty of debate about whether George Smith should wear the Wallabies No.7 jersey against the British and Irish Lions. At least one person thinks he should...

32: Crowd comes alive at Canberra Stadium as George Smith pinches it at the breakdown and the Brumbies are just metres out, but Ben Alexander knocks on as the tryline begs to be breached. Scrum time...

29: Crusaders were starting to stretch the Brumbies defensive line, finding some small holes, but winger Joe Tomane wins the penalty for the home side. Moore takes the lineout near halfway. Penalty to Crusaders and then continue to turn the screw...

We have some fashion advice for Brumbies captain Ben Mowen, seems his head gear needs some work...

18: Crusaders pressing the Brumbies line, but they've been held up twice and they'll get another 5m scrum...pressure on home side's defence. And Crusaders scrumhalf Andy Ellis sprints straight from the scrum to the corner and Carter will look to square it up from the conversion. Crusaders are dominating territory and possession here. Carter ... does it easily. 10-all.

13: The Brumbies now penalised for being offside and the mercurial Dan Carter lines up to put the Crusaders on the board. All came about after Fotu Auelua knocked on from the kick-off. Carter nails it. Brumbies 10-3.

11: The Brumbies win a penalty as the Crusaders fail to release the ball at the breakdown and Lealiifano puts the home side further ahead. Brumbies 10-0.

7: Over! Out of nowhere, a dour start comes to life with Brumbies flyhalf Matt Toomua picking off and intercept to race 70m with nothing but green grass in front of him and now Christian Lealiifano will look to give the Brums a seven-point lead. It's good. Brumbies lead 7-0.

2 minutes: Attacking start by the Crusaders with a short kick-off, but it's turned into a kicking duel early...and someone's chanting "boring" already...

And George Smith leads the Brumbies out on to the field for his 137th Super Rugby game for the club, setting a new record for the province and breaking the previous mark set by his good mate George Gregan...not long till kick off.
