Question:
Noel, in Nov 21's Age you answered a question in which the following statement appeared 'We have periodically transferred my wife's salary-sacrificed super balance into another beneficiary account in my name' and your answer gave the impression that this was in order.
I have never heard of such a transfer between account holders, other than in a divorce. Is it acceptable under SIS, in what circumstances and how is it done please?
Answer:
If your fund will permit it, you can transfer up to 85% of your concessional contributions to your spouse every year. The best way is to ask the trustee of your fund if they allow it in your particular situation.
