A man and his dog were rescued after a dramatic search in the dark, snowy forests of the Brindabella Ranges on Saturday night.

Emergency services said a man in his 20s was exploring the region when his car slid down an embankment and became trapped.
Both man and dog managed to escape and climb back up to the road, as the temperature dropped and a blizzard picked up. The man called for help on a scratchy line about 10pm.
But it would be more than an hour before rescuers could find them, using lights and sirens to narrow in in the dark.
While the man had intially given a rough estimate of his location, ACT Fire and Rescue commander Paul Flynn said he ended up being a signficant distance away.
"He was eventually able to work it out for us using latitude and longitude," he said.
The shivering pair were picked up on Two Sticks Road uninjured and given a lift back to Canberra.
"They were very cold but in good spirits from what I hear," Commander Flynn said.
He urged the public to download the Emergency + app, which harnesses a phone's GPS to help emergency services hone in on a caller's location.
"It's so useful when these kinds of things happen, it's easy to get disorientated, especially in the dark."
