More information from UAC

January 18, 2012

The Universities Admissions Centre (NSW & ACT) Pty Ltd (UAC) has released the names of applicants who have been offered places in the courses and institutions shown.

The offers listed are from the October, November, December, Early January and Main rounds as indicated.

Applicants' names and course codes (see key) are listed. If applicants have the same last name and initials, first names are shown. A postcode is used to distinguish between two or more applicants with the same name.

All applicants can check whether they have been made an offer on UAC's website at www.uac.edu.au. In addition, all applicants will be notified by mail.

The offers list does not include:

offers to students who have requested that their names not be published

offers to postgraduate and non-degree courses, or

offers to international, miscellaneous or non-award students.

Accepting your offer

Instructions on how to accept your offer are available when you check your offer on UAC's website. In some cases you may be able to accept your offer online. Instructions have also been mailed to you. Further queries should be directed to the relevant institution.

Cut-offs

For 2011 Year 12 applicants, institutions have released the cut-off required for selection into each course. These cut-offs are shown in the course codes key. Cut-offs are expressed as a rank, with most Year 12 applicants ranked according to their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

All courses (with the exception of two domestic fee-paying or DFEE courses) are Commonwealth-supported place (CSP) courses.

The cut-offs apply to domestic applicants only; the cut-offs for international applicants may differ from those shown.

Some 2011 Year 12 applicants may receive an offer to a course even though they have an ATAR below the cut-off published for the course. In such cases, the institution concerned has used other selection criteria in addition to or instead of the ATAR, for example by awarding bonus points. The cut-offs include bonus points so that each cut-off listed is the lowest rank (including any bonus points) required for entry into each course.

For non-current Year 12 applicants, the cut-offs do not generally apply. Institutions may take any or all of the following into account when considering applications - tertiary studies, secondary studies, post-secondary studies, and other relevant factors such as employment history and special circumstances.

If N/A appears instead of a cut-off, a cut-off is not applicable because selection criteria other than or in addition to the ATAR are used, or the course is not offered to 2011 Year 12 applicants.

Vacancies

A letter 'V' shown in brackets after the cut-off indicates that some places may be available in the next offer round, the Late Round. Vacancies could also arise in some courses not marked 'V'. This will not be known until after acceptances to Main Round offers have been received and no guarantee is given that further offers will be made.

If you applied for a course marked with a 'V' and you were not made an offer, your qualifications may not have been sufficient to gain entry into the course in this round.

Do not rely on receiving an offer in the Late Round. Institutions will make offers in the Late Round only if courses have vacancies after the Main Round.

If you have received a Main Round offer, you are advised to accept that offer. Even if you accept an earlier offer, you can still receive another offer in a later round. If you prefer the later offer, you can then accept that offer and withdraw from the earlier offer.

Late cancelled courses

Some courses may have been cancelled by institutions just before the Main Round. A list of these late cancelled courses appears with the cut-off lists. If you applied to one of these courses, contact the relevant institution for further information (contact details are given below).

Changing preferences for the Late Round

The next offer round is the Late Round. You can change your preferences for the Late Round on UAC's website until midnight (Sydney Eastern Daylight Time) on Wednesday, January 25, 2012. You can change the preferences you had for the Main Round, or add new preferences, or a combination of both. If you do not change your preferences, higher preferences than the course you have been offered in the Main Round are automatically considered in the Late Round. Remember that institutions make fewer offers in the Late Round, and may not make offers to all courses.

The cut-off for a course in the Late Round could be greater than, equal to or less than the cut-off in the Main Round, depending on the number of places available after acceptances of Main Round offers.

Some courses had early closing dates. Avoid wasting a preference by checking Table 1 and Part 2 of the UAC 2012 Guide or the course descriptions on UAC's website. If vacancies have been advertised in courses with early closing dates, you must contact the institution for application procedures.

Late Round offers will be released on UAC's website at 9pm (Sydney Eastern Daylight Time) on Wednesday 1 February 2012.

Late applications

You can apply through UAC for consideration in the Late Round until midnight (Sydney Eastern Daylight Time) on Friday, January 20, 2012 (conditions apply). Not all courses are available with a late application and places in the courses that are available may be very limited. In the Late and Final rounds, offers are made only to courses that still have vacancies, and as a result the number of offers made in these rounds is relatively few when compared to the Main Round. Refer to the UAC 2012 Guide and UAC's website for more information.
