TURNBULL'S DIET

Malcolm Turnbull lost 14kilograms over the break. I hope I'm the one who finds the wallet and claims the reward.

Linus Cole, Palmerston

LET'S MOVE FORWARD

People are missing a vital clue in the discussion about whether Julia Gillard's staff were preparing a speech two weeks before she challenged Kevin Rudd.

Surely no person could labour for two weeks and come up with the mindless ''moving forward'' drivel that she spoke.

Surely that was a last-minute panic speech that reflects the fact that she was not preparing to challenge in the weeks before.

Chris Williams, Griffith

FOWL DEPOSITS

Has anyone else noticed that the big bird at the corner of Belconnen and Benjamin Ways has been ''befowled'' by his smaller confreres? Who will give him a good scrub?

H. Baker, Scullin

HOLD THE 'FORDE' BUS

At least one number 59 bus shows ''Forbes'' on its direction indicator on the front of the bus instead of ''Forde''.

I have mentioned this to several people from ACTION buses but nothing has been done.

They thought it was amusing. I think it is unprofessional.

Angela Plant, Franklin

IT'S ALL IN THE VOICE

Many public figures (female) speak in a croak. They couldn't really - could they? - want to sound like a bloke? Work on a higher pitch, gals, and your great ideas will resonate better with the world.

Barrie Smillie, Duffy

CYCLE OF LIFE

Some writers feel compelled to report the occasional instance of a cyclist doing something apparently silly.

Believe it or not, I once saw a motorist do something silly, though nothing nasty in the woodshed as yet.

Peter Campbell, Cook

TABLOID BLUES

Is The Sun setting on Rupert's empire?

John Passant, Kambah

NURDLE SLIP?

Does Walter Wohl (Letters, February 13) - in reference to the word ''nurdle'' being used in a cricket story in The Canberra Times - know whether Michael Clarke was at leg slip when he suffered his hamstring strain?

Peter Baskett, Murrumbateman, NSW

CORRECTION

In Brian O'Donovan's letter (''Collect green waste'', February 13, p12), he was referring to Australian ''states'', not states in America. This was a sub-editor's error.
