A slip, a fall and the employer pays for it all: risks of home and on-call work

A recent decision brought to light employers' liability to pay for staff injuries that happen while they are on-call but away from the workplace. In Ziebarth v Simon Blackwood (Workers' Compensation Regulator), the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission upheld an appeal, resulting in an employee's claim for compensation being accepted. The Workers' Compensation Regulator had initially rejected the claim.
