Lies and trickery in public service job applications and interviews

Embellishing, exaggerating or stretching the truth - call it what you like, dishonesty in resumes and job interviews is a common problem for employers. An American study found 70 per cent of employers had encountered a falsified curriculum vitae, while other research showed 43 per cent of a sample of more than 1000 resumes had at least one ''significant'' inaccuracy.
