Malcolm Turnbull announces secretaries for three public service departments

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has continued to restructure leadership of the public service with a new secretary appointed at the  Department of Education and Training.

Dr Michele Bruniges, a former chief executive of the ACT Department of Education and Training, will replace outgoing secretary  Lisa Paul on April 4. 

Dr Bruniges is currently the secretary of the NSW Department of Education.

Ms Paul resigned from the position in early December with Mr Turnbull stating she wished to pursue a career "beyond the public service".

Mr Turnbull said Dr Bruniges would bring a "wealth of experience" to the department as an administrator and a teacher.

"She is a leading educationalist in Australia with a distinguished career in Commonwealth, state and territory governments," he said. 

Kathryn Campbell was reappointed as secretary of the Department of Human Services secretary with Finn Pratt also reappointed as secretary of the Department of Social Services.

Both reappointments are for a period of five years.
