A vomiting cat has been blamed for Adelaide Crows defender Daniel Talia exceeding the speed limit.
Talia says he was so distracted by the sick moggie on the back seat of his car that he didn't see a reduced speed sign.
Talia, 22, drove at 96km/h in a 60km/h zone on the South Eastern expressway on February 9, when roadworks led to a speed variation.
In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, Magistrate Bob Harrap fined Talia $824 for exceeding the speed limit by 30km/h or more but less than 45km/h.
He also lost four demerit points, instead of seven, due to his significant training commitments.
The magistrate noted that Talia said his attention was momentarily diverted as his cat was violently ill in the back seat and he did not understand he was committing an offence at the time.
