The new owners of the much-loved toy store Little Red Engine in Phillip say they want to ensure it remains an institution in the national capital.
And while the name will change, the philosophy of providing quality, hard-to-find products won't alter, new owner Cathy McLean says.
Ms McLean opened the Little Sprout toy store in the Canberra Centre three years ago.
The former Little Red Engine store, in Colbee Court, will become the second Little Sprout outlet. Like Little Red Engine, Little Sprout is an independent, home-grown business.
Little Red Engine has been a fixture in Canberra for 30 years and in recent years was run by businessmen as an investment.
