Police are searching for burglars with a taste for the finer things in life, who stole Grange Hermitage wines, an expensive coin collection, Pro Hart painting and family silverware.
As part of the raid, burglars removed two wall safes from the Mawson home either late on Sunday or early Monday morning.
The wall safes contained family jewellery and the coin collection, with both collections valued at about $35,000.
The burglars also took about 30 bottles of Grange Hermitage – one of Australia’s most expensive wines – as part of a cellar of about 150 bottles.
Police have warned people to be on the lookout for anyone trying to sell the high quality wine on the cheap.
The Pro Hart oil painting 'The Rabbit trapper's wife'
was also stolen in the raid, with the work estimated at about $10,000.
Other items to be stolen included two flat screen TVs and two cases of beer.
Police said the residents of the home were distressed at discovering their house ransacked on Monday afternoon.
They believe a small truck was likely used in order to move the considerable contents from the house.
Police have conducted a doorknock of the area, and police forensics have conducted a thorough examination of the house.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
