Need for caution on G20 rules, Libs say

28 Sep, 2009 09:42 AM
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd returns today to Australia from his visit to the United States, trumpeting his ''important work'' at the United Nations and the Group of 20 leaders' summit in Pittsburgh.

However, the Federal Opposition has cautioned that Australia needs to tailor its implementation of the G20 summit outcomes to fit its own economic circumstances.

Acting Opposition Leader Julie Bishop yesterday welcomed the outcomes of the G20 meeting which agreed to take on broader responsibilities in the management of the global economy, including greater regulation of financial institutions and continuing economic stimulus until recovery is assured.

But Ms Bishop said it was important to adjust these measures to suit Australia's relatively strong economic position, unique among other G20 countries.

Were you impressed? So much- taking in turn- the vague 'unity', the wide eupherisms, the 'warnings etc etc that it seems to be 'an old boys club'.Rudd smacked the 'IMF as 'bloated' - thank you for representing a whole national 'viewpoint'. Mr rude seems to have a loose tongue that is quick to criticise other groups that he relied on for consensus for his 'stimilus spending'- parading across the podium forgetting that he has only just started the entrenched debt beyond all 'taxed profits' to repay. He's going to be forced to the 25% promise or lose all world confidence. But he will tirade that it is the Liberals fault, not his- never, never his fault. Already the world knows about his tirade of personell abuse that even Clinton titled him Mr Rude. Rudd unleashed- will only get worse.
