A HIGH traffic day in a hospital emergency room left an infant waiting almost eight hours to see a doctor after suffering a seizure, the ACT Government says.
Carly Kiff has expressed frustration after spending hours in the Canberra Hospital's emergency department waiting room after her 19-month-old daughter Madison turned blue and began convulsing.
The Kaleen family spent 712 hours waiting for a doctor before leaving, exhausted and angry.
''You sit in the waiting room and you feel like you're left alone,'' Ms Kiff said.
A spokeswoman for Health Minister Katy Gallagher said the Canberra Hospital acknowledged the stress the delay had caused the family and had apologised in writing. The spokeswoman said the day Madison was brought in was a ''particularly busy'' day for the emergency department, with 160 presentations, 61 requiring hospitalisation.
