Bikie links as raids net drugs, weapons

24 Apr, 2009 07:38 AM
Three Canberra men linked to the Rebels outlaw motorcycle club have been charged after dawn raids across three states and the ACT.

A five-month ACT Policing operation culminated with the arrests of the men, who police allege are associates of the Rebels bikie gang.

The raids were part of multi-jurisdictional crackdown on the club, in which up to 240 police officers searched 49 premises in the ACT, South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia.

South Australia Police said the equivalent of at least 7000 ''street deals'' of illicit drugs were seized in the operation. The haul included amphetamines, ecstasy, heroin and cannabis, SA Police said.

I thought we were all told recently that members of bikkie gangs were all law-abiding citizens just going about their lives. Mr Corbell, you may wish to rethink your line on bikkie gangs and what the Government plan to do to manage or control them.
