'Blinded' and robbed at Forrest apartments

14 Apr, 2009 01:00 AM
A man was temporarily blinded with an irritant spray before being bashed and robbed by three men while visiting friends in Canberra's south on Sunday.

The 37-year-old Narrabundah man was assaulted in the stairwell of an apartment block at the corner of Dominion Circuit and Canberra Avenue in Forrest at 10.30am.

One of the men sprayed his eyes and he was then punched.

The men stole the victim's wallet and backpack which contained a notebook computer, wireless modem and cheques.

Police attending the assault and robbery found one of the apartments in the building had been burgled. They believe the burglary and attack are linked.

One of the offenders has been described as fair-skinned and aged between 25 and 30 years old.

The second was described as slim and was wearing anoversized white hooded jumper with the hood pulled up around his head.

The third was described as dark-skinned, about 170cm tall, muscular, and wearing a dark grey or navy hooded jumper.

Police believe the men fled in a late 1980s or early 1990s metallic bronze-coloured four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan Skyline.

They urge anyone who saw anything suspicious near the Forrest apartment block to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
