The Brumbies have lodged a planning report for their proposed Griffith Oval revamp with the ACT Planning and Land Authority but the public won't see it for months, if at all.
Neither the Brumbies nor the authority will yet issue the report, which is different to a formal development application.
The authority asked the Brumbies to do the planning report to help it determine if a draft variation to the Territory Plan should proceed. It includes the results of public consultation conducted by the Brumbies.
The Brumbies need the Assembly to approve a variation to the Territory Plan to go ahead with applying to develop about 150 units on its current Griffith headquarters on the Canberra South Bowling and Recreation Club site in Austin Street. It also wants to build a new administration block on the Griffith Oval site, while upgrading the playing surface.
But first the authority needs to decide that a draft variation process should proceed, using the planning report to help inform its decision.
A spokeswoman for ACTPLA said yesterday the planning report would be issued for public comment, with the draft variation, only if the draft variation proceeded. It was up to the Brumbies if they wanted the report issued earlier than that.
Brumbies chief executive Andrew Fagan has said the planning report would be public. He said yesterday it would be up to ACTPLA to issue the document publicly if it agreed to proceed with a draft variation.
The Brumbies have said they would only lodge a development application for their proposal once the Territory Plan was varied and not before then. A development application would be subject to separate approval and consultation processes.
