Driver killed in mountain cliff plunge

22 Mar, 2010 01:08 PM

A man has died after his car fell 70 metres over a cliff in the Victoria's far east early today, according to police.

The male driver, who was alone in the car, was driving south on Bogong High Plains Road, approximately seven kilometres from Mt Beauty, near Falls Creek, when his sedan veered off the road and rolled down the cliff face.

Police said the man died in the accident, closing the road for a number of hours while police and CFA crews attempt to recover the vehicle and investigate the incident.
