12 Nov, 2009 07:57 AM
A North Albury man has died after a boating accident near Eden about 9.30 yesterday morning.

The 61-year-old was fishing with a friend about 300m off Haycock Beach when he fell overboard. A 59-year-old man from Merimbula dived in to try to rescue the man, but as he tried to pull his friend back into the boat it capsized.

The 59-year-old man then brought his friend back to shore and authorities were notified. Police and paramedics attended the scene, confirming the North Albury man's death. The Merimbula man was treated for minor injuries.

The dead man's name has not been made public.

Police are calling for witnesses to the accident to come forward.

Anyone with information should phone Police Marine Area Command on 93207499.
