Fab concert swings in to help children

THEY weren't raising money for a yellow submarine, but hundreds of Beatles fans gathered at The Lodge in aid of Black Mountain School.

The prime ministerial residence and local band George Huitker and Junk Sculpture threw a charity bash yesterday to help pay for modifications of a bus to transport disabled children. About 500 people turned out for the gig, ranging from 86-year-old grandmothers to two-year-old fans of the Fab Four. ''I think there's something in their music that touches a lot of generations,'' Huitker said.

The Radford College teacher said some audience members were moved to tears by the songs. Even Kevin Rudd got in on the act, spending time with kids who had a private concert.
