Globe-conquering New York band Vampire Weekend will headline one of biggest line-ups of alternative music acts the capital has seen when the Groovin The Moo festival charges to Canberra for the first time in May.
Vampire Weekend, which debuted at No 1 on the United States charts last month with second album Contra, will perform at the May 9 event at the University of Canberra alongside a prized collection of international talent that includes Canadian siblings Tegan and Sara, Texas band Spoon and Canadian turntable whiz Kid Koala.
Silverchair will lead the Australian herd for its first live shows in two years alongside ARIA Award-dominating dance-pop duo Empire Of The Sun and Triple J favourites Grinspoon, Lisa Mitchell, British India, Miami Horror, Bag Raiders, Muph and Plutonic, Jonathan Boulet and more.
Groovin The Moo promoter Stephen Halpin said it was exciting to be the first national touring festival to set up camp in Canberra.
"The line-up is awesome,'' Mr Halpin said of the licensed all-ages show. "The Groovin The Moo vibe is something special - so if you've never been before, come along and check it out.''
Tickets to Groovin The Moo are on sale February 16 for $95.90-plus-booking fee here or from Moshtix outlets.
