The Government of the day traditionally launches its campaign on the penultimate Sunday before the election, two weeks before polling day.

A long-standing convention means ministers and Opposition frontbenchers do not claim travelling allowance after the launches th they still travel but the parties foot the bill for travelling allowance and the public continues to pay for flights and cars.

There is no date for the Opposition's campaign launch, but the Greens launch their national campaign in Canberra on Sunday.
