Lecturer back in court in porn case

18 Dec, 2009 08:37 AM
A University of Canberra lecturer who allegedly groomed a primary school child for sexual abuse was back in court yesterday charged with producing child pornography.

The McKellar man was granted bail in the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday, having been accused of trying to lure a 13-year-old girl into sex between February and December of this year.

Yesterday, the prosecution told Magistrate Beth Campbell that investigators had searched the 58-year-old's property while he was in court the previous day and found child pornography on his computer.

The court heard that at least one image depicted a female aged between nine and 11.

The man was brought back before the court to face fresh charges but was refused bail and will now spend Christmas behind bars.

The man will reappear in court early next year.
