EVERYWHERE you go, you can always take the (Canberra) weather with you thanks to the BBC and a persistent expatriate Canberran.
The giant British Broadcasting Corporation will include the national capital in world weather forecasts after lobbying from a former Canberran.
Tired of seeing weather roundups that included only Sydney and Melbourne, regular globe-trotter Andrew Higgie sent ''constant protestations'' asking the BBC to add the Australian capital to its forecasts.
This week his protests paid off.
Mr Higgie received an email saying Canberra would be included on the Australasian weather broadcast on BBC World.
Canberra will also feature on the ''International Holiday Weather'' on national channel BBC 1.
Mr Higgie said it was a great result. His campaign to get Canberra on the weather map was prompted by his regular travels, where he spent ''too much time in hotel rooms'' keeping up with news and events on BBC World.
''What has always irritated me is that during the BBC's rather good world weather, when they reach Australia they always exclude Canberra on the forecasts,'' he said.
But given the city's recent foggy cold snap, Canberrans abroad may not welcome reminders of the winter they've left behind.
