A man facing serious assault charges has been granted bail amid claims he was not receiving adequate medical care at Canberra's prison.
Caleb Paulauskas was hospitalised twice after being arrested on January 9 for allegedly assaulting another man outside Summernats.
Paulauskas, who suffers from the heart condition pericarditis, made a successful application to Master David Harper last Friday that he be released due to a number of issues including medical grounds.
Pericarditis is a condition that can cause inflammation of the outer membrane of the heart.
The bail application said ''Alexander Maconochie Centre staff are not providing adequate medical attention''.
The 20-year-old was taken to Calvary Hospital for treatment for the heart condition hours after being arrested. While in custody at Alexander Maconochie Centre, he was also transferred to Canberra Hospital for treatment on January 23.
