ACT Chief Minister Jon Stanhope wants to name and shame drink- drivers in a bid to curb record numbers of charges against Canberra motorists.
The idea comes as ACT Policing registered another record year of drink-driving offences, with the new mark set more than six weeks before the end of the reporting period.
It is the second consecutive year police have charged record numbers of motorists.
As of Monday, 1593 motorists had been charged, a rate of nearly five a day.
Mr Stanhope said he was frustrated with the appalling numbers and would look to publish the names and suburbs of people convicted of drink-driving on a government website.
