Noass's milk, but festival gets thumbs up

FLORIADE'S head gardener Andrew Forster farewells his flowers for another year today, after a successful spring festival.

He will be cutting and sending hundreds of bunches to 11 local nursing homes that toured Floriade over the past month.

Event manager Helen Curzon said the festival had again been a success, despite the weather.

Even NightFest, held over five nights at the end of September, attracted 18,000 people, despite virtually constant rain.

In its first year it had 28,000 visitors and Ms Curzon said there was no reason it could not attract 35,000 if it was held next year.

One of the thousands who gave the thumbs up to Floriade was author Jackie French who has been delivering talks on horticultural topics at the Actew AGL Marquee. She said she was last at Floriade five years ago.
