ACT Policing says it is concerned for the welfare of two children who were unlawfully taken from Ainslie School on Monday afternoon.
Police believe 36-year-old Joanne McNoe removed her children, aged eight and six, from the school at about 2.15pm on Monday.
It is believed the pair were in class when they were taken.
Police said Ms McNoe was not the children’s legal guardian.
Police asked for the public’s help in finding Ms McNoe and her children, Liam and Liana Shahriar.
A police search over the past two days has failed to find the woman or her children.
The three were last seen walking away from the primary school.
ACT Policing issued a statement yesterday, saying ‘‘police do have concerns for the welfare of the children and conducted extensive inquiries’’.
The children’s father, Nom Shahriar, said he hoped the children were okay. ‘‘I want them safely back in Canberra,’’ he said.
‘‘Wherever they go, please be safe and know someone’s looking forward to seeing you.’’
Ms McNoe is fair-skinned, with a heavy build and shoulder-length dyed blonde hair.
She was last seen wearing a white strapless full-length ‘‘maxi’’ dress, with a black pattern. She was also carrying a shoulder bag.
Liam, eight, has an olive complexion, short dark hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a light-blue polo shirt and dark-blue shorts. Liana, six, also has an olive complexion, has dark-coloured hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a light-blue polo shirt and a dark-blue tartan skirt.
Anyone with information about the children is urged to call ACT Policing on 131 444.
