Police have found the body of a man missing for more than a week after a surf-ski accident on Lake Burley Griffin.
Peter Morrison, 30, went missing after getting into trouble during blustery conditions while on the water with his girlfriend on August 30.
Mr Morrison's body was found about 30m from Springbank Island at 9.30am yesterday after an eight-day search by water police and divers.
On Friday, Mr Morrison's brother and sister paid tribute to the personal trainer's adventurous, fun-loving spirit.
His sister, Fiona Horan, said her brother had loved travelling and was training for a holiday to Nepal with his girlfriend where they planned to trek to the Mt Everest base camp.
''Pete was the happiest he'd ever been in his life, he had so many exciting hopes and dreams for the future,'' Mrs Horan said.
He and his girlfriend had also recently bought a home together in Jerrabomberra.
The 30-year-old ran the Outback Training business in Narrabundah.
Mr Morrison's family said they wanted the tragedy to act as a reminder to Canberrans of the potential dangers on the lake.
Mr Morrison was not wearing a life-jacket during the paddle from Springbank Island to Black Mountain Peninsula.
''I just think he didn't have an understanding of how dangerous it really was and that's what we want to achieve by this,'' Mrs Horan said.
Following the discovery of Mr Morrison's body, police will prepare a report for the coroner.
