NSW Police are investigating the suspicious death of a Batemans Bay man after the identification of a body dumped in a shallow grave.
Scott Bryan's body was discovered in the Currowan State Forest in June, with police only formally identifying his body recently following extensive forensic examination.
Mr Bryan was reported missing in early December and was last seen on November 21 last year after being dropped off at his home in Short Street by a health worker.
Inspector Kevin McNeil from Batemans Bay police would not confirm how the 34-year-old died.
Police had earlier expressed concern for Mr Bryan's safety, because he needed medication.
Inspector McNeil said police had been in close contact with his family, who had been updated about the progress of the investigation.
Mr Bryan had lived in the South Coast town for a number of years. Police said they were investigating whether he was involved in any disputes before his disappearance.
''He was a member of the local community and we're appealing to either friends or associates of Scott to call police and inform us of any information they think was relevant.''
Mr Bryan's family had previously appealed for public information concerning his disappearance earlier this year.
Inspector McNeil said Canberrans who ventured to the coast last year could help provide clues to the mystery. ''There's school kids who had knocked off school and it was coming up to the holiday period towards summer and obviously there were people holidaying especially people in the ACT who may have heard or seen something.''
Police discovered the grave near McCardys Creek Road with cadaver dogs after receiving information from the public.
Mr Bryan was described as caucasian, about 195cm tall, with a solid build and balding hair.
