A south Canberra P-plater caught drink driving at more than 19 times over the legal limit will be off the road for 18 months.
Joanne Grosse of Bonython was found slumped over the steering wheel of her Ford Laser on Yamba Drive in Isaacs at about 8.30am on November 25 last year.
The 21-year-old returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.385, more than 19 times her limit as a provisional driver.
The ACT Magistrates Court heard Grosse had been using alcohol to self-medicate for depression but was attending counselling and rehabilitation in an effort to beat her addiction.
Magistrate Maria Doogan said Grosse was suffering from an illness which could be treated, and was lucky to have a supportive family.
The young woman apologised in court for putting other road-users at risk.
She was disqualified from driving for 18 months, fined $600 and placed on an 18-month good-behaviour order.
