Real drag: Henry's selling Summernats

18 Apr, 2009 10:26 AM
Chic Henry is selling Summernats after 22 years of cars and controversy, saying he has had enough of the stress and risk the annual festival brings.

But he plans to stay on as the event's organiser for the next two or three years and believes Summernats could fetch up to $2million ''in good times''.

Mr Henry also wants the Government to throw in some extras, including a rent reduction and more than $100,000 worth of upgrades to the festival venue at Exhibition Park in Mitchell.

Mr Henry said he had five potential buyers for the event, including one Canberra company.

He would not say what price he was asking for Summernats but was determined to sell the festival this year.
