‘Sex with teacher was second nature’

19 May, 2009 11:46 AM
A Canberra school teacher had sex with her 14-year-old male student so often that intercourse was like ''second nature'' for the pair, a court heard yesterday.

Former St Francis Xavier College teacher Tania Tominac is on trial in the ACT Supreme Court accused of having sex with the boy five times during the course of the eight-month relationship, including trysts in the teacher's bedroom and on her desk at the Belconnen school.

The 43-year-old, who was a science teacher at Saint Francis Xavier and coordinator of the boy's Year 9 group when the alleged offences were committed, has pleaded not guilty to five counts of sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16 and one count of maintaining a relationship with a person under the age of 16.

The court heard the alleged victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, say that a flirtation by mobile phone soon turned into an affair involving oral sex, anal sex and vibrators.
