Student flies high after helping police keep eagle eye on crime

08 Nov, 2009 10:09 AM
ST FRANCIS XAVIER College student Alex Pringle is flying high after winning a competition to design a poster for a new Crime Stoppers campaign.

The 12-year-old took to the skies over Canberra yesterday, making the most of her prize of a helicopter ride across the city.

''I think it was the best reward ever. It was good winning and everything, but the whole helicopter ride was excellent,'' Alex said.

She will receive an added buzz when her winning poster adorns four ACTION buses soon to be travelling around Canberra.

Acting Superintendent Steve Hogarth said it was important for police and Crime Stoppers to find ways to connect with young people.

He said police statistics showed young people aged 16-24 years were most likely to be both the victims of crime and the perpetrators.
