The Face of Floriade, Antonia Kidman, tip-toed through the daffodils while side-stepping a question about her big sister, Nicole, as Canberra's flower festival was launched in glorious spring weather yesterday.
Tourism Minister Andrew Barr also got into the groove of Floriade's Mind, Body and Soul theme by urging the men at the launch to loosen or throw off their ties.
''Let's get into the true spirit,'' the tie-less minister said.
Ms Kidman, wearing a dress made from 1000 Singapore orchid blooms (''It's very heavy to wear so hopefully it will stay up''), was effusive about her first Floriade, saying it was an honour to promote the festival.
''Spring time is definitely my favourite time of year. I just love flowers. So to be at Floriade amongst all these delicious blooms, well, I'm in absolute heaven,'' she said.
But not so open when asked if she'd spoken to her famous sister about her new role promoting the spring festival. ''No, I don't think so,'' she said.
