Unenviable tally of drink-drivers

30 Jun, 2009 08:00 AM
Another 25 drunk drivers were caught by police at the weekend, as the ACT is expected to post the highest number of offenders for the crime in years.

The drivers were netted during a targeted police operation on Friday and Saturday nights.

Police also issued 35 traffic infringement notices, with one driver busted for allegedly driving at 140km/h on Ginninderra Drive signposted as an 80km/h zone.

I just wanted to share some stats with you. A driver with a BAC of 0.05 has twice the risk of being in an accident the a sober driver, a driver with a BAC of 0.08 has seven times the risk and driver with a BAC of 0.15 has twenty five times the risk. I am completely with Jo. The next time you think the level should be 0.1 think about those stats.
