A Jess Bibby scoring blitz lifted the Canberra Capitals to a convincing 79-60 win over the Logan Thunder at Tuggeranong last night.
In scorching conditions, the live-wire guard nailed 25 points her highest tally of the season as the WNBL champions collected their sixth win.
It was the perfect way to start Canberra's gruelling 10-day stretch and the team's second-half buffer gave coach Carrie Graf a chance to rest her stars.
The team flies to North Queensland today to play the Townsville Fire tomorrow before returning to Canberra to take on the Australian Institute of Sport and Sydney next week.
''The fact that we were able to get everyone on the court was huge for us,'' Graf said.
''We've got some huge games coming up and tonight was a chance for our benchies to stand up.
''Bibby's shot was rolling for us and they stepped up their defence on Tolo which opened it up for some of our other shooters.''
All the talk before the match was about Canberra's bid to lure superstar Lauren Jackson back to the capital.
The steering committee headed by Actew Corporation chairman John Mackay has already raised $130,000 of the $220,000 needed by next week to sign Jackson.
